"Do Re Mi" by Jeff Wrench. Acrylic, newspaper, pencil on canvas board. June 2012.
An odd one for me. This is to take part in another artist’s project, asking painters to interpret the musical scale in a painting. I went with the 7 colors of the visible light spectrum (ROY G BIV) as a metaphor for the 7 notes of a basic musical scale (Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti). The scale repeats, and if you draw the spectrum as a color wheel, it repeats also. I decided to make it 3D and it turned into a beach ball.
I like how the paint looks, though I am not wild about beach balls or rainbows as subject matter.
